Aromatherapy – A Good Reason to Spoil YOURSELF
We're huge fans of aromatherapy treatments, in fact all spa and aromatherapy experiences... any excuse to spoil yourself! Sometimes it really is the small experiences that can change your mood and uplift your spirits. Aromatherapy is one of the best ways to treat yourself to some downtime at home and the bathroom is the best place to get your aromatherapy time in. The steam mixes with natural scents to calm and soothe, perhaps one of the reasons why we were all given baths before bedtime as kids! Relaxing is a natural by-product of the aromatherapy experience.
Aromatherapy scents in the bathroom should be either citrus or mint based. This doesn’t mean that it has to be only grapefruit and only spearmint, but it's a good idea to try to stay away from anything too perfumed. It's easy to overdo it at times and end up with a bit of a headache. More does not necessarily increase the relaxation experience in this instance. For an amazing pick-me-up you can try something like a grapefruit scrub, lemon shampoo, and orange face moisturizer. The subtle tones of the differing fruits are very refreshing without being oppressive.
For essential oils you can add five to ten drops of the essential oil (of your choice) into a bath full of warm water. The aromatic oils fill the bathroom with rich scents which just make you feel instantly uplifted. Again, the best oils for the bathroom would be something minty and refreshing. Some of the most commonly used essential oils for baths include chamomile, sage, eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, mandarin, and patchouli. If you'd prefer not to use essential oils for a fun way to incorporate aromatherapy products into your bath, you can try a bath bomb.
Typically made with baking soda, citric acid, moisturising oils, and aromatherapy oils, a bath bomb fizzes when dropped into a bathtub full of water. The oils then moisturise the skin during the bath as the essential oils provide the great aromatherapy benefits desired. Bath bombs are so popular and there are so many different fragrances, think Lush! They also make for a fun DIY project at home, which is a great way for to choose the exact essential oils used to make it.
We include bathbombs in our aromatherapy gift selections as they are fun, colourful and a great way try a little aromatherapy if you're unfamiliar with using oils. So go on, next time you’re shopping for some new bath products to treat yourself with, pick something that smells terrific and transform an ordinary bath experience into a spa experience!
